Having risen from the rank of PC to lead more than 30,000 officers policing one of the world’s major metropolises, Lord John Stevens QPM knows a lot about what it takes to be an outstanding individual.

Considered by many to have been the most successful Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police in recent times, Lord Stevens has since headed various high profile inquiries, been given a life peerage and taken the role of patron of the Police Community Clubs of Great Britain.

Leading the development of the school’s culture, Martin has never wavered from continually seeking to move the school forward.

Martin introduced at Fairfields one of the first full ICT suites for pupils and he personally keeps the school website up to date. Keeping children up to date with the latest technological advances, Martin runs a highly successful ICT club every week.

“Mr Tuck has facilitated a full programme of visits, workshops and clubs that have allowed the children to experience different cultures and experiences that they would otherwise never have experienced,” said Giovanni Gaidoni in nominating Martin.

The creation of a website has allowed the whole school community to view a variety of school events themselves. Martin regularly uploads videos and photographs from school events in order for parents to be ‘virtually’ there, experiencing their child’s learning. Over the years Martin has also ensured that no child, who might have missed an event through lack of funding of for any other reason, has been unable to participate.

Thanks to the efforts of Martin the school has received two ‘outstanding’ Ofsted inspections in a row. The school offers an outstanding and diverse curriculum with Mr Tuck leading the way in encouraging staff to be creative and inspirational.

“Mr Tuck, on his retirement, leaves a legacy of outstanding achievement. The schools success is because of his vision, determination and commitment over the 27 years of his headship. The school ethos that he has developed has contributed immeasurably to the experience of hundreds of young people,” added Giovanni.
